We want our customers to have a great experience to remember. Overall, we want customers to know that The Lazy Pig BBQ and Catering cares about its customers and their needs.

About Ken Harris

Ken Harris, a proud native of Little Rock, Arkansas, has been passionate about the art of grilling and smoking meats for as long as he can remember. His wife served in the Military (United States Army), and the military allowed them to live in Germany for a few years. While he and his wife Betty were stationed in Germany in 1996, whenever the community was having an event that he’d participate in, he’d volunteer to bring the bbq. For Ken, barbecue is a way to connect with people, share flavors, and create unforgettable experiences. After a while, people started to request his bbq at other events and private parties and he became the go-to grillmaster providing grilled and smoked barbecue to military units, civilian gatherings, and fraternity events.

A couple years later after returning to the United States (his wife being stationed by the military in Northern Virginia), Ken took his love for barbecue to a new level, setting up pop-up BBQ stands at gas stations and cooking on the grill for private parties. Wanting to create a signature flavor that people would enjoy, Ken crafted a unique seasoning blend, designed to enhance the taste of any meat, fish, or vegetable it touches. For him, barbecue isn’t just a method of cooking; it’s an art form that requires passion, skill, and pride in every plate served.

Ken’s journey eventually led him to open two brick-and-mortar restaurants in Northern Virginia prior to relocating once more to the Dallas-Forth Worth area of Texas to be closer to family. Ready to share his love of “good old-fashioned barbecue” with a new community, Ken has brought that same passion for the art of grilling with the re-opening of Lazy Pig BBQ in the DFW.

Ken Harris is the heart and soul behind Lazy Pig BBQ, bringing a lifetime of barbecue knowledge and a commitment to quality to every meal he serves. Originally from Little Rock, Arkansas, Ken’s love for smoked, slow-cooked barbecue began as a teenager. He spent his early years helping his uncles and aunts in their family businesses, learning the art of the perfect “pink smoke ring” and the science of a balanced dry rub that elevates the natural flavors of quality meats.

Ken’s journey took him to Germany with the military, where he became known for his backyard barbecues, cooking for friends, family, and community events. After moving back to the States, Ken decided to make his passion a career, launching Lazy Pig BBQ in Virginia. He’s run two successful restaurants in Virginia, delighting locals with his “old-fashioned barbecue” made right, with nothing but high-quality ingredients and time-honored techniques. Now, settled in Texas, Ken continues his mission to bring genuine Southern barbecue to the community.

For Ken, barbecue is more than just food—it’s a way to bring people together over flavors they’ll remember and crave. When you visit Lazy Pig, you’re tasting decades of passion, dedication, and skill on every plate.
